Location
The 280 kms. drive from Bangalore to Hunkal Woods is an enjoyable one and goes along one of India’s best highways. The destination of Chikmagalur and surrounding hills is fabulous, especially during the monsoons – gentle hills, coffee plantations, babbling brooks and many waterfalls, all part of the serene environs of North-West Karnataka.

Though the town of Chikmagalur itself is in the plains and a typical small town of South India, the surrounding Sahayadri Western Ghats where Hunkal Woods is, are full of ethereal views thanks to the clouds and mist that seem to roll in on whim and put the land above and the sky below, allowing us to turn your world magically upside down.

Hunkal Woods is surrounded by the Mulyangiri, Kemmanagundi, Babubudan peaks and Muthodi Wildlife sanctuary. For the historically inclined, a trip to the ancient ruins and temples of Belur, Halebid is all a few miles away.
